From Wine to Music, Georgetown Offers Numerous Festivals That Keep its Residents Active and Involved
Georgetown, Texas is one of the cities that is known for hosting events for its residents. These events typically have a theme that they're centered around, and they strive to get families active in their community. There are a few put on every year, and they are especially active in the summer months. Most of them are located downtown, on Georgetown's historic square—which was named the "Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas." Here is a list of a few of our year-round favorites that you do not want to miss out on! They are known to be so enjoyable, they might just get you thinking about moving to Georgetown.
Music on the Square Summer Concert Series
- This is a large, reoccurring event that happens every Friday from June through August in the town square! This time frame does not include June 7th, July 5th, and August 2nd. It starts at 6:30 pm and runs until 8:30 pm. It is a perfect place to take some blankets, some packed or to-go food, and have a picnic while listening to beautiful music. They even have designated areas for you to park, so that it doesn't become an unnecessary hassle. In 2019, some artists they will be showcasing are: Wilson String Band, Mike Hamilton, and The Porch Turtles, just to name a few!
- This is actually the 12th year that this festival has been put on in Georgetown! Located in the same beautiful town square as mentioned above on September 28th, it runs from noon to 8:30 pm. You have the option to taste delicious wine from the 12 different wineries that will be in attendance. If you purchase a ticket beforehand, it is $25. At the event, it's $35. And, if you wish to be in VIP, its $65.
- The Red Poppy Festival is Georgetown's biggest festival. It occurs every year for an entire weekend in April, and it consists of three days of shopping, eating, live music, games, parades, etc. There will undoubtedly be an event for every member of the family, regardless of their age. It's free and located in the amazing town square! Once the event gets closer, go to their website ( https://poppy.georgetown.org ) for a detailed hour-by-hour summary of the events that go on daily. Having just celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2019, it's proven to be an extremely loved Georgetown tradition.
